Introduction & Mission
Hello! I’m Rosa Alor. I’d like to talk a little bit about how my more than 20 years of experience providing services in Spanish in the United States aligns with the Senior Bilingual Content Strategist position at Fearless.
I was born, raised, and educated in Mexico, where I developed a passion for reading and writing from a very young age. Ever since I was a child, I devoured every text that came into my hands, and I was fortunate enough to start working at a young age at my city’s leading newspaper. Those years working as a reporter—interacting directly with people in my community and learning from my elders—were the best professional start I could have had.
Over time, I moved to the United States, and this country became my second home. Because nearly 20 percent of the population here (about 58 million people) speaks Spanish, I have been extremely fortunate to be able to continue developing my career in my native language, becoming a bilingual specialist in both the private sector and the public sector.
My mission: To put my experience and in-depth knowledge of Spanish to work for the Spanish-speaking population of this country who are seeking to improve their lives and those of their families.
Curriculum Associates: Content With an Educational Purpose
In my current job, I manage the end-to-end Spanish content lifecycle for digital products, mainly Spanish assessments for grades 2-8. I work closely with product, engineering, and design teams in agile sprint cycles to align content requirements with product vision and platform architecture.
My goal is that students, teachers, and administrators receive educational products (instructions lessons and assessments) with the same quality and rigor than the English ones. Whether our Spanish content is developed from scratch or trans-adapted, I make sure our customers have top-quality content that empowers all students to become skilled readers and mathematical thinkers.
Texas WIC
As a Communications and Outreach Liaison with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, I was responsible for the Spanish localization and content of the entire Texas WIC website, which includes a long list of resources for families, trainings, videos, and nutrition counseling and recipes. As part of our efforts to increase enrolling, I oversaw the end-to-end content design, translation strategy, and user flow localization for the Spanish version of the Texas WIC Chatbot assistant (Maya), enhancing digital accessibility for program participants inquiries.
Texas HHSC & Texas DSHS
Key Functions
During the eight years I worked for the State of Texas, I had the opportunity to provide various types of services:
Trans-created high-stakes public health and disease prevention awareness campaigns, adapting nuanced clinical and regulatory messaging into culturally relevant and plain-language Spanish.
Translated and coordinated rapid-response news releases, urgent health advisories, public safety campaigns, and disease prevention education campaigns.
Authored, edited, and approved internal communications and critical Spanish-language content for the official State of Texas web portals, specializing in general information and updates for the HHSC benefits systems.
Collaborated with marketing vendors, IT, Web Services, and agency leadership to deploy multi-channel public awareness campaigns, successfully expanding program enrollment and service reach.
Impact and Outcomes
By treating Spanish content as a foundational architecture requirement rather than a post-development checklist item, the results were highly successful. We deployed multi-channel public awareness campaigns that successfully expanded overall program enrollment and service reach. The localized WIC chatbot significantly minimized friction points and gave vulnerable communities instant, 24/7 access to critical public health information on their own terms. It proved that good content strategy results in better outcomes for the people the Texas DSHS and HHSC we serve.
A content strategy with a direct impact on the public
This is the mindset I plan to bring to Fearless. Senior content strategy is not just about translating from one language to another or polishing words. It is about building repeatable governance systems, partnering with agile product teams, and designing intentional, accessible digital ecosystems that leave no user behind. It is also about knowing your audience, use Plain Language principles, and measure your results.
I look forward to talk with you.
Thank you!
